Initiatives for local communities
Initiatives for local communities ―
Role as a part of social infrastructure and promotion of regional development
The Shimamura Group strives to stably provide clothes that serve as a daily necessity in order to play a role as a part of social infrastructure in clothing sales.
In addition, we support and offer donations to sports, cultural and educational events to promote regional development.
Role as a part of social infrastructure
As a part of social infrastructure in clothing sales, the Shimamura Group has constructed a dominant store network of about 2,200 stores and a proprietary distribution network to support those stores. This enables us to stably supply products throughout Japan. In addition, we are working to improve the convenience for local residents by opening stores in small commercial areas. We are also contributing to job creation in communities by opening multiple stores. In the event of a disaster or emergency, we will continue to operate stores as much as possible to support life in the community by developing a business continuity structure.
Shopping Support Service "Shima Sapo"
The name Shima Sapo is a combination of the words "Shimamura" and "support" and, appropriately, is meant to support people who have difficulty going out to shop, such as those who live in areas suffering severe population decline or residents of nursing homes or facilities for people with disabilities. In FY 2024, after developing a manual, we expanded the service to all stores operated under the Shimamura business.
Traveling Sales
This is a shopping support service in which Shimamura goes to local government facilities and nursing care facilities to provide opportunities for both local residents and those living in facilities to enjoy shopping. Through this service, those who may find it difficult to go out can have the full experience of touching and handling the different articles of clothing.Shopping tours
Our shopping tours are designed to support shopping for those living in nursing care facilities or facilities for people with disabilities so that they can visit Shimamura stores and enjoy shopping.
We provide a service in which we open our stores one hour earlier and make them reserved for exclusive use. This means it is possible to shop at leisure before stores are opened without having to worry about other customers.

Shimamura Women's Track & Field Club
The Shimamura Women's Track and Field Club started its activities in 2003 with the aim of contributing to the local community through corporate sports. The club continues activities mainly in Saitama Prefecture.
The aim is to produce athletes who can compete on the world stage by participating in various Japanese and international events, such as the All-Japan Women's Corporate Ekiden Championship and Japanese marathons.
We are also active in registering guest runners in local marathons, holding athletics classes, and so on.
