As of June 2025, the employment rate for people with disabilities was 5.36%, significantly higher than the statutory rate of 2.5%, and there are 973 domestic employees with disabilities.

Initiatives to expand Shimamura's hiring of people with disabilities
■Promoting the acquisition of "Working Life Counselor for Persons with Disabilities" qualification
Since FY2021, block managers in charge of hiring people with disabilities have been encouraged to obtain "Working Life Counselor for Persons with Disabilities" qualification. As of February 2026, 422 employees have obtained the qualification.
■Objectives of obtaining the Working Life Counselor for Persons with Disabilities qualification
・Learn about the social significance of employing people with disabilities and understand the characteristics of disabilities
・Facilitate collaboration with local disability support organizations
・Apply in overall store management practices
Having store block managers with this qualification allows us to support employees in settling into the workplace after they are hired and to respond quickly to issues within the workplace, which has led to improvements in the quality of employment for people with disabilities and maintaining continued employment.
■Promote the employment of people with disabilities across all businesses
From FY2025, we have been working to improve the job satisfaction of people with disabilities, by promoting understanding of the approach to reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities and dissemination in internal manuals to encourage employees to change their own behavior.
Also, in order to promote the employment of people with disabilities in each business, issues and good examples are shared with store managers of all stores, and support is provided to expand job opportunities and help people with disabilities settle in.
We will continue to promote the employment of people with disabilities in all businesses and blocks.

Since 2014, our company has been certified as an excellent workplace for employing people with disabilities by Saitama Prefecture, as a workplace that proactively employs people with disabilities and makes use of their abilities.

When I finish putting out all the items for the department I'm in charge of. I feel it especially when I know where each display should go and the taper boxes are empty.

I've learned how to process price markdowns, so next I'd like to try packaging tasks such as transferring and packing products.
